Minergy moving closer to lucrative Eskom coal supply deal.

Minergy Limited could start feeding significant amounts of coal to South African power producer Eskom, the company has revealed.

Minergy which runs Botswana’s only privately developed coal mine in operation announced early this year that has been shortlisted by Eskom to supply it’s Tutuka Power Station with thermal coal.

Minergy is already supplying various cement manufactures in South Africa from its Masama Coal Mine.

The company also supplied Namibian Power Corporation with coal last year.Minergy says should it succeed in clinching the Eskom big supply tender it would establish another mine next to Masama to specifically meet Eskom demands.

Last Friday Minergy said it was moving closer to pocketing the lucrative deal noting that the South African power producer is currently doing some preliminary assessment to check Masama Coal Mine capacity.

“Eskom due diligence process is gaining momentum and Minergy’s looks forward to closing this out during the current calendar year” the company revealed in market update on Friday.
