Debswana’s ‘Major Capital Projects’ division employees went on a “ShowWeCare”drive and donated winter clothing, mostly blankets to five families in Mmankgodi village. The five beneficiaries were identified through the assistance of the Social Welfare and Community Development Office for Mogoditshane/Thamaga Sub-District.
Handing over the donation, the Project Lead, Thapelo Molefe stated that the initiative was born from the realisation that, with the current harsh climate conditions, some community members are not able to afford or have warm winter clothing to shield them from extreme weather conditions, and as such, the team found it befitting to demonstrate the company’s “Show we care “ value by donating to the less privileged members of society.
Donations were received with great appreciation by the village leadership led by Kgosi Tshwaile and community members. Kgosi lauded Debswana employees for their conscientiousness and continued support to the nation of Botswana.
Employee volunteerism is encouraged and supported by Debswana as a way of building a values driven employee culture.
