Orange Botswana and Huawei Technologies Botswana have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate Botswana’s digital transformation through investments in intelligent infrastructure, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud technology and industry digitalisation.
The agreement builds on years of collaboration in wireless networks, fintech, green energy and digital infrastructure, while expanding cooperation into enterprise services, mining, energy and data centre solutions.
A key component of the partnership is Orange Botswana’s Tier III-certified Data Centre, which provides secure and reliable hosting for critical systems and supports growing demand for cloud services, data-intensive applications and AI technologies.
The partnership will also leverage Orange Botswana’s nationwide connectivity infrastructure and Huawei’s global expertise in information and communications technology (ICT), cloud and AI to develop scalable digital solutions for businesses and institutions.
Meanwhile, Orange Botswana’s Orange Digital Center (ODC) has reached more than 9,400 people in 2026 through 70 programmes focused on digital literacy, entrepreneurship and practical technology skills.
Orange Botswana CEO Néné Maïga said the agreement would extend the company’s role beyond connectivity towards building infrastructure, services and capabilities that enable greater participation in the digital economy.
Huawei Technologies Botswana Managing Director Li Dalu reaffirmed the company’s commitment to Botswana, noting that the partnership would focus on translating technological cooperation into practical solutions and measurable value.
The two companies will establish closer technical engagement to identify priority opportunities and develop industry-specific digital solutions, supporting innovation and sustainable growth across Botswana’s economy.
