Khato Civils delivers 100km water pipeline on schedule, within budget

The Khato Civils in conjunction with South Zambezi and Evolution Engineering has successfully delivered the Masama – Mamashia water pipeline on time and within budget.

The Joint veture was appointed by Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) to design, and construct a Transmission Water Pipeline of approximately 100 km from Masama Well fields to Mmamashia Water Treatment Plant in Gaborone.

This pipeline will convey 64Ml/day of Borehole water abstracted from both Masama East and West Wellfields.

The pipeline comprises a 1.15km x 700mm nominal diameter and 81.9km x 1 000mm nominal diameter Spigot & Socketed Mild (Low Carbon) Steel Pipes.

This pipeline will augment water demand in water stressed areas within the Greater Gaborone corridor; including Lobatse/ Barolong, Thamaga/ Moshupa/Kanye, Molepolole, Mochudi/Bokaa catchment areas.

Last week Water Utilities Corporation announced that it will be conducting Hydraulic test on the pipeline. The pipeline would be flushed with water to check leaks and water flow.
