Sandfire Resources’ Motheo Copper Operations General Manager, Candy Godie, has underscored the importance of collaboration between the private sector, government, civil society and communities in addressing complex development challenges.
Speaking at the Khoemacau Lake Ngami Cycle Challenge where she participated as the Chief Walker, Godie reaffirmed Sandfire’s support for the annual charity event, describing it as an important platform for bringing together businesses, community leaders and members of the public in a shared commitment to building healthier, stronger and more resilient communities.
She noted that Sandfire’s participation reflects the company’s commitment to creating a lasting positive impact in communities, extending beyond the operational life of its mines. She emphasised that meaningful community development cannot be achieved by one organisation working in isolation.
“No single organisation can address the complex development needs of communities alone; it requires collaboration. That is why we support our neighbour in the Kalahari Copper Belt and recognise the positive impact it is making in communities within its zone of influence,” she said.
Sandfire’s support for the event reinforces its commitment to responsible corporate citizenship, partnerships and sustainable development, recognising that building resilient communities requires shared responsibility and sustained collaboration among all stakeholders.
