The Botswana Development Corporation (BDC) has set a target to create and sustain 25 000 decent jobs by 2031.
The target was announced by BDC Managing Director Oteng Keabetswe while setting the tone at the Botswana Investment Forum in Gaborone, where he said capital follows confidence. The jobs target forms part of BDC’s delivery commitments by 2031, anchored on P5.5 billion to be invested in priority sectors.
BDC also plans to recycle P2 billion of assets into new investment, reduce non-performing loans to below 15% from 44%, close the structural liquidity gap to zero and achieve a 6% group return on equity.
Keabetswe said BDC will remain accountable to the public, with a Balanced Scorecard reported every year and an independent mid-term review in 2029.
